Check out our new Winter Plunge video! Proceeds raised will go toward our new gym floor!

We all agree our 1968-gym floor in O’Reilley Hall needs to be updated! It has already been determined that all money raised beyond the first $15,000 at the International Taste of St. Peter will be dedicated to kick off the fundraising efforts for a new floor. In conjunction with the Taste of St. Peter, several students of St. Peter’s eighth grade class, parents and coaches have decided to participate in the Forest Lake Winter Plunge on February 18th to raise additional funds. This event, “Getting Cold for a Cause,” promises to be fun and yes, a little cold! Anyone is welcome to join the team, the NSP St. Peter’s Splashers.

If you are interested in joining the students who have already registered or would like to make a donation to our team, please click here. On this website you will find great information as well as a video link about this event. Please note there is another “St. Peters” team from Forest Lake. If you choose to register/donate online ~ be sure it’s with our NSP St. Peter’s Splashers! Questions? Don’t hesitate to contact Gretchen Jeska, (612-875-7292) or Pam Empting, (651-777-2021). Thank you for your consideration to help us “Get Cold for a Cause”!

On Sunday, we begin National Catholic Schools Week, our annual celebration of Catholic education. This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Academics. Service.” What is wonderful about this theme is that it succinctly expresses three priorities that make Catholic schools standout from other educational institutions.

At Catholic schools, our children learn faith, not just the basics of Christianity, but how to have a relationship with God. They benefit from high academic standards, which help each student reach his or her potential. They also learn the importance of service, both as an expression of faith and a manifestation of good citizenship. This focus on faith, academics and service prepares students for meaningful lives in their families, communities and the Catholic Church.

During Catholic Schools Week, St. Peter Catholic School will open its doors to the parish and community so that all can share in its culture of faith, academics and service. As you can see from the schedule below, the school has several meaningful and enjoyable events planned. I encourage you to take part and to ask friends and neighbors to visit the school also, particularly those considering Catholic education for their own children.

I hope that you will join me in expressing heartfelt appreciation to the teachers and staff, at St. Peter Catholic School for the important work they do on behalf of the children of our parish. They truly make our school a success.

Sunday, January 29th: JOY -Celebrating Our Faith. Today, we begin Catholic Schools Week with the celebration of Mass at 10:30 and an All-School Open House from 9:00 – 12:30.

Monday, January 30th: JOY – Giving Thanks. No School, Teacher Workshop; Appreciation Lunch for Faculty and Staff, sponsored by the Parent Association.

Tuesday, January 31st: JOY – Appreciating Each Other. We will begin our day with a Prayer Service at 9:30. We ask people who are special in our lives to attend the Special Person’s Lunch. We want to display our school spirit. Students may come out of uniform if they wear Spiritwear or blue, yellow, and/or white.

Wednesday, February 1st: JOY – Sharing New Experiences. Preschool – Sixth Grade will watch The Amazing Jeffo, 10:00-11:00. Jeffrey Smith is a magician who happens to be blind. Amazing Jeffo uses magic, mixed with a healthy dose of comedy, to educate his audiences about the abilities, rater than the disabilities of blind and physically challenged people, and to promote a respect and appreciation of all of our differences. Trick after trick illustrates how we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us and that “The most disabling thing in our lives is the thing we can do most about – our attitude!” Seventh and Eighth graders will have Ski Lessons at Welch Village. After they pass ski test, they may ski or snowboard. Kindergarten – sixth grade may come dressed in their wackiest clothes.

Thursday February 2nd: JOY – Recognizing ways to serve each other. We will have presentations to whole school on different forms of service from 10:00 – 11:30.

Friday, February 3rd: JOY – Sharing our Faith and Knowledge. It is the Feast of St. Blaise today. Please attend Mass with us at 9:30 and receive a blessing for our throats. Catholic Jeopardy will follow in O’Reilley Hall. And our seventh and eighth graders will end the week with a dance in the evening, 6:30 – 8:30.
